Update!

Hello all! I’m sorry that there hasn’t been a post in a couple of weeks. Life has been crazy busy!

The screening of the inspiring documentary The Mask You Live In at the wonderful organization notMYkid went super super well! Shout out to Pita Jungle for catering! We had a really large turnout and the movie seemed to really deeply affect lots of people. Represent Arizona’s, my chapter of The Representation Project, partnership with notMYkid is going to continue, and we hope to host screenings of both The Mask You Live In and their other documentary, Miss Representation, which is about the misrepresentation of women in the media. Throughout next year, I will give periodic updates on screenings and workshop opportunities.

I also got to go to a rally for educational funding within the state of Arizona. We rank 49th out of 50 in terms of money per student spent, so this is obviously a big problem. The rally focused mainly on Prop 123, a bill that would take money from a land trust and put it towards education (which thankfully passed)! The rally was hosted by the wonderful Valley Interfaith Project, and I look forward to more actively participating in these events in the future.

Novel Writing is going fairly smoothly, and I’m hoping to hit my goal of 55,000 words by the end of July! Next week you will see a piece I wrote on the upcoming election.

Thank you so much, as always.
